The country could be set to see further strike action after SIPTU members working in the National Ambulance Service centre in Dublin have confirmed they have overwhelmingly voted in favour of strike action in a bid to address serious problems with staffing levels.

The news of the proposed industrial action comes after SIPTU organiser John McCamley released a brief statement outlining the reasons for future stoppages, Mr McCamley said: “Members are calling on management to fulfil its obligations under the WRC proposals”.

He further explained that the current system of recruiting staff “is not fit for purpose” and that if the issues are not resolved they will affect “the operation of the emergency control centre”.
