Virgin Media News reporter Gavan Reilly has been absolutely lambasted on social media this evening after making a remarkably unprofessional faux pas about arguably the most powerful man in the world.
The reporter, who hails from just outside Trim, Co Meath, takes himself seriously when he does news reports. He generally doesn’t stray too far from toeing the usual politically correct line, but that all appears to have changed when it came to posting this evening on X about Donald Trump.
The pint-sized reporter referenced President Donald Trump as “yer man”, which many on Facebook and X have perceived as a majorly derogative insult.
One user said: “No wonder tourism is down, imagine Americans seeing this written about their President from a mainstream journalist”.
Another said: “This jumped-up scumbag showed his true colours during Covid, now this!”.
