A comprehensive survey of Ireland’s private rental sector shows that the median amount tenants spend on rent is 30% of their net monthly income, after tax and excluding bills and service fees, reports RTE.

The survey also shows high levels of positive experiences among renters and small owners.

The research, conducted by the Residential Tenancy Board (RTB), covers the views of small, medium and large landlords, tenants and letting agents, reports RTE.

Conducted by Amárach Research, its second phase is described as one of the largest studies conducted in the industry, including more than 2,100 surveys in person, over the phone and online, as well as in focus groups.

The survey found that 83% of tenants in the private rental sector felt positive or very positive about renting their current property, while 3% were negative or very negative, reports RTE.
