A mother and her two children were left horrified after a glass panel on the viewing deck up on the 103rd floor of Chicago’s Willis Tower cracked right under their feet.
The family were left staring down over a hundred floors through a cracked sheet of glass.
According to engineers, the three people were never in any danger, as only the protective layer broke, with the reinforced glass underneath remaining intact. Of course, the family did not know that at the time.
The glass deck is certified to be able to support up to 4.5 metric tons of weight.
It is the second time that the floor of the viewing deck on the Willis Building cracks. A similar incident happened in 2014.
