Mother jailed for 30 days after she ran over her son when he refused to go to school




A mother in the US has been jailed for 30 days after she pleaded guilty to reckless driving which caused her son to suffer life changing injuries.

According to People magazine, the woman Tiffany Kosakowski, was given a six month sentence which was reduced to 30 days after pleading guilty to the charges brought against her at a Michigan court.

Kosakowski, 36, was charged with reckless driving causing serious injury after her 9-year-old son suffered a fractured skull, traumatic brain injury, and broken bones following the incident which occurred on December 11th 2018 at Chandler Woods Charter Academy.

It is understood the boy sustained the injuries when he clung on to the car door handle when he refused to school.

According to WOOD-TV, the boy who now requires extensive physical therapy was injured when the rear passenger wheel ran over him when he fell.

It is believed that police reviewed CCTV footage showing the incident which lasted a number of minutes.

Kosakowski, who has since shown remorse for her actions, said she knew that her son was clinging to thd door handle but continued to drive anyway with him walking alongside the vehicle.

She reportedly told the court that she has accepted responsibility for what she had done and said she will have to live with what she has done for the rest of her life.

Before adding that she is now focused on serving her sentence and then helping her son during his rehabilitation.
