Mother of one of three men killed driving wrong way down N7 while fleeing gardaĆ sues the Irish State

The mother of one of the three men who perished in a head-on collision while avoiding the gardaĆ by driving along the N7 in the wrong direction has filed a lawsuit against the Garda Commissioner and other defendants in the High Court, reports Sunday World.

After her son Graham Taylor (31), a passenger in the BMW 3 Series driven by Karl Freeman (26), died, Brenda Taylor is suing for damages for alleged bodily injuries and suffering.

Late on July 7, 2021, Dean Maguire was the third guy in the car when it crashed into an approaching truck and caught fire. According to an inquiry following Mr. Freeman’s death, DNA samples from family members had to be used to identify the occupants, reports Sunday World.

The truck driver suffered severe injuries, but none that were life-threatening.

The three males who passed away all lived in Tallaght, Dublin, and had a long list of prior convictions.

For the Garda Commissioner and other state parties, attorney Fred Gilligan stated today that his clients will not be able to defend Ms. Taylor’s actions for a while because of some uncontrollable circumstances, reports Sunday World.

Nonetheless, a thorough defence will be provided on schedule.

On the advice of MacGuill & Company, Ms. Taylor’s attorney, Brian Carroll, filed a motion, which Mr. Justice Anthony Barr indicated he understood and postponed. He allowed Mr. Carroll to try to resubmit his motion if necessary.

The Attorney, the Minister for Justice, the Minister for Public Expenditure and Reform, Ireland, and the Garda Commissioner are all being sued by Ms. Taylor, reports Sunday World.

She is also suing many non-state parties, such as a lawyer for Mr. Freeman’s estate and a lady who is allegedly the owner of the BMW 3 Series.

Additionally, she has filed a lawsuit against the Motor Insurance Bureau of Ireland, which is financed by each driver’s insurance policy and provides compensation to victims of uninsured or untraced drivers, reports Sunday World.
