The mother of a boy who issued a heartfelt plea for a permanent home so that her son could qualify to be placed on a waiting list for a liver transplant received some welcoming news as it has been confirmed that they are to be housed on Monday.

Offaly County Council have said they have been trying relentlessly to help secure accommodation for 25-year-old Helen Lynch, from Tullamore, for some time. A spokesperson for the county council has said that the family would be housed in a three-bedroom house in Tullamore until permanent accommodation becomes available early next year.
The news has been a welcoming boost for the family as Ms Lynch’s six-year-old son, Charlie, was diagnosed with liver disease when he was just one-month-old.

It is believed that little Charlie  needs to have a permanent address before he can qualify for the organ transplant list for treatment in the UK. It is understood that Charlie is due to travel to England for an appointment with doctors at King’s College Hospital in London next week. Although Ms Lynch has said that she has not been told when the new property will be available or when she will receive the keys.

The mother-of-two told reporters that the local authority has said it must ensure the house is ‘liveable’ before it can be let. However she has been told the property will definitely be checked by Offaly County Council staff on Monday.
