
A young mother who was found dead at her home in Carrick on Suir in Co Tipperary has been identified locally as Monika Kubasiewicz.
Gardaí believe the Polish national died during a medical emergency connected to her pregnancy in the bathroom of her new home at Blackthorn Close, Greenhill Village, Carrick on Suir, during the early hours of Friday morning, reports Breaking News.
Ms Kubasiewicz, who was aged in her 30s, was found at the property in Carrick-on-Suir alongside the infant.
It is understood investigators believe the deaths occurred during childbirth, with gardaí treating the incident as a medical tragedy. It is not believed any healthcare professionals were present at the home at the time, reports Breaking News.
Local residents said Ms Kubasiewicz and her partner had two other children and previously operated a shop in Prior Place in Clonmel near the train station.
She was originally from the city of Swiebodzice in south-western Poland, but had been living in Ireland for several years, reports Breaking News.
In a statement, gardaí said: “The focus of the Garda investigation at this time concerns the preparation of a file for the Coroner,” a Garda spokesperson said. Gardaí have been carrying out their investigation with what has been described as the utmost sensitivity due to the tragic circumstances surrounding the deaths, reports Breaking News.
A local councillor also appealed on social media for people not to speculate about the circumstances of the incident.
In a Facebook post, Sinn Féin’s David Dunne said: ‘’There has been a tragedy in Carrick on Suir. I would ask people not to speculate on what happened and not to share anything they are hearing or have been sent to them’’, reports Breaking News.
