A paedophile who sexually assaulted a five-year-old girl has been jailed for a minimum of 10 years, despite courtroom pleas from his girlfriend who claimed that her own daughter lied about the attack.

The man Anthony Bryant, who was a registered sex offender before he met his victim and her mother, has been sentenced to 10 years behind bars after he was found guilty of two counts of gross sexual imposition.

However in a bizarre case, Mr Bryant Wooster, Ohio, was given an unusual defence when the young victim’s mother tried to tell police and jurors that her little girl lied about the attack despite overwhelming testimony from the little girl.

According to The Wooster Daily Record, the girl’s mother tried to claim that her little girl lied about Bryant sexually assaulting her despite hearing her horrific story describing the sick attack.

In compelling testimony the young girl told officials that Bryant told her to take her clothes off and lie down on bed.

It is believed the incident occurred in January 2018, when the young girl was left in the care of Bryant.

However not believing her daughter’s story, her mother who cannot be named due to legal reasons, told the court that she didn’t believe that Bryant was capable of doing such a thing and he could never harm a child.

The woman who apparently broke up with Bryant, also told the court that just because she wasn’t in a relationship with him, it didn’t mean that she didn’t love and didn’t mean the best for him in the future.

It is believed that the case came to light when the little girl told her grandmother what had happened.

Although Bryant was sentenced to ten years behind bars it is understood that he intends to appeal his conviction.
