In the latest attack on Christians in Egypt by Muslims, a mother named Mary Sa’d and her 6 year-old son Karas, were allegedly murdered by a Muslim tuk-tuk driver named Abu Muhammad al-Harami. Details are sparse but it is understood the murders took place on April 3 on the streets of Minya Governate, Egypt.
Abu Muhammad allegedly made threatening and derogatory comments to Mary Sa’d. She responded by saying she would report him to police. Abu Muhammad attacked Mary with his machete, butchering her and her son. He also attempted to murder her four year-old daughter who managed to flee and hide from her attacker. Abu Muhammad was arrested 4 days later according to PJ Media.
Eyewitnesses report Abu Muhammad butchered the Coptic Christian woman and her toddler son with a machete “as if he were slaughtering chickens.”
As is now normal when Christians are attacked in Egypt, both the media and the government authorities are warning people not to jump to conclusions concerning the motives of the alleged murderer. They say the murders had nothing to do with the woman’s Christian identity, but rather was the unfortunate outcome of the man’s attempt to steal her golden necklace.
The reality, however, is that there have been many seemingly random attacks on Copts in the streets of Egypt.
