Nasa’s Perseverance rover craft successfully touches down on Mars’ surface

Nasa’s Perseverance rover craft has successfully touched down on Mars’ surface.

There were some anxious moments at Mission Control back on Earth, as telemetry signals take over 11 minutes to reach our planet, so the ground crew was forced to wait until signals were beamed across space.

Perseverance’s 7-month long, 472 million km. voyage through space culminated in a perfect landing at a site known as Jezero Crater, which scientists believe was once a lake.

Upon landing, Perseverance tweeted ‘I’m safe on Mars. Perseverance will get you anywhere.’
