Codenamed “Trident Juncture”, the wargames will see the mobilization of 36,000 soldiers, sailors, and airmen from more than 30 countries.
The exercise, which has been planned for quite some time according to NATO sources, has been tweaked to include scenarios based on newer security threats posed by Islamic extremist and other radical groups.
Trident Juncture will take place in October and November in Italy, Spain and Portugal, and their adjacent waters and airspace.
