The Minister for Transport Paschal Donohoe has recently published a bill to regulate clamping on private and public property for the first time.
Under the proposed new Bill, it is understood that the National Transport Authority will have complete oversight of the clamping industry.
Also under the new bill, the maximum clamp release fee of will be €100, whilst the most you will be charged for your car being moved is thought to be €50. It is also believed that signs will also have to be put in place where clamping is carried out.
Mr Donohoe was hopeful that the new bill would be law by the end of the year.
