New figures just released indicate that 900 homeless children are residing in 26 ‘family hubs’

New figures just released show that 900 children are currently living across 26 ‘family hubs’ in the country.

Family hubs are essentially refurbished locales where a number of families are accommodated on a ‘temporary’ basis, which usually extends to many months. Family hubs were introduced as an alternative to sending families into hotels or B&Bs.

Concerns are now being raised about the impact that long-term stays on these places may have on children’s mental health.

The homelessness situation is steadily becoming worse, and the latest move of the Government is to show support for so-called ‘cuckoo funds’, which are corporate entities with a lot of financial clout purchasing housing developments en masse to turn them into high-rent traps.

What do you think of the Government’s attitude on homelessness? Let us know on the comments below.
