According to new figures released this morning it is understood that on average 600 people are killed every year on roads on both sides of the boards.
The newly published report shows that in total 23,948 victims have tragically lost their lives on roads in the Republic since 1959. Meanwhile in Northern Ireland, figures show that a total of 14,839 people have lost their lives since 1931.
The newly published figures were released ahead of World Day of Remembrance for Road Traffic Victims this Sunday.
