To guarantee the provision of safe and dependable Global Navigation Satellite System data, Europe is launching its first confirmed GPS/GNSS Data Stream service, reports RTE.
The National Metrology Laboratory of the National Standards Authority of Ireland (NSAI NML) has announced the introduction, which is an addition to the National Timing Grid of Ireland.
People may identify the most efficient routes, avoid traffic, and get to their destinations swiftly and securely with the help of GNSS systems, such the US’s Global Positioning System (GPS) and the EU’s Galileo, reports RTE.
In an emergency, first responders can get at a person’s location more rapidly thanks to GNSS devices.
Signal jamming and spoofing are two illegal uses of navigation systems that might jeopardise public safety and interfere with essential services.
This new service reduces these risks by providing a validated stream of GNSS data, guaranteeing that customers can rely on the precision and dependability of their position and timing information, reports RTE.
NSAI Technical Manager for Time & Frequency David Fleming stated, “We are thrilled to be launching in Ireland, Europe’s first ever Verified GNSS/GPS Data Stream service,” reports RTE.
“As Ireland’s digital economy continues to grow and more services and public safety aspects are dependent on GNSS/GPS data, the importance of verifiable GNSS/GPS data in Ireland is paramount which made the establishment of this service a key priority for the NSAI NML,” Mr Fleming said, reports RTE.
