The Indonesian Government have revealed they are set to introduce a new law that will see Child rapists being castrated and microchipped.
According to reports the new hard hitting law is being considered following the horrific and brutal gang-rape and murder of a 14-year-old schoolgirl on the island of Sumatra.
Under the new legislation, convicted paedophiles will automatically be chemically castrated before they are sent to prison were they will face longer prison sentences. It is understood that convicted paedophiles will also have microchips implanted into their ankles upon their release so they can be monitored 24/7 by police .
It is believed the new law has recieved the full backing of Indonesian President Joko Widodo. Meanwhile a justice ministry spokesman confirmed that the new law is strongly being considered, saying: “The microchip will be fitted before the criminals are released from prison, and is needed to monitor and locate them after they are freed,” said Asrorun Niam Sholeh, head of government-backed child rights group, the National Commission for Child Protection (NCCP).
The call for harsher punishment for paedophiles comes after seven teenagers were recently jailed over the gang rape of the innocent schoolgirl, was tragically found dead, tied up and naked in woodland, three days after the attack.
