A historian of nuclear weapons has been created by Alex Wellerstein, allowing people to see how much of Ireland would be destroyed if it were hit by a nuclear bomb.

According to the Irish Mirror, Alex Wellerstein created the NUKKMAP website which is intended to give people an overview of the deaths and injuries that would be caused by such an attack.

The interactive map allows users to check the situation in their own area and to see what damage would be done if the bomb hit close to where they live.

Wellerstein explained:

“We live in a world where nuclear weapons issues are on the front pages of our newspapers on a regular basis, yet most people still have a very bad sense of what an exploding nuclear weapon can actually do.
