New Late Late show presenter Patrick Kielty wants his exact salary figure made public

New Late Late Show presenter Patrick Kielty wants to reveal in public his RTÉ pay package, reports Independent.ie.

Mr Kilty fell silent on Sunday when the Irish Independent asked him if he would be willing to disclose his salary.

The BBC presenter also replied when asked about the RTÉ payments scandal: “I’ll need a few more beers before I could talk about that,” reports Independent.

RTÉ bosses confirmed that Mr Kilty’s contract to present the program had been signed by both parties.

Appearing before the Oireachtas media commission on Tuesday afternoon, the station management also said it would be happy to disclose the salary – if Mr Kielty agreed.

As Independent.ie has learned, Mr Kielty has told RTÉ that he wants his salary to be known.

RTÉ’s acting CEO, Adrian Lynch, also said Mr Kilty was recently made aware of Mr Tubridy’s impending pay issue.

“As soon as we were aware as an exec board, he was warned it was coming,” Mr Lynch said, reports Independent.

NK Management and Ryan Tubridy will be invited to the Media Committee.

Chair Niamh Smith said she would be in favor of bringing them up in her closing remarks after the committee’s four-and-a-half-hour session.

Earlier in the committee, it emerged that D Forbes had been asked to resign two weeks ago.

Ryan Tubridy’s contract with RTÉ expires on May 31, TDK’s deputy general manager said.

“There was a process to negotiate a radio only contract which at the moment is suspended,” Adrian Lynch said, reports Independent.

Mr. Lynch did not previously answer TD when asked if Tubridy would return to the broadcaster’s air. He said he is currently disabled for “editorial reasons”.

When asked by FF TD Cathal Crowe what are the editorial reasons behind Mr Tubridy being off air, Mr Lynch said: “We wouldn’t give our platform or airwaves to someone who is a public figure or who is involved in a controversy. Ryan Tubridy entered a lawful contract with RTÉ. This is not an editorial issue, this is a significant failure in terms of controls,”, reports Independent.
