According to a recent report it is understood that around two thirds of PAYE workers are unknowingly missing out on hundreds of euro each year on a relatively unheard of tax allowance.
Reports say many Irish workers can claim hundreds of euro back through Flat Rate Expenses (FRE) deduction on your income.
A leading Tax Manager Barry Flanagan, of Taxback.com said: ” Only 571,000 claimed allowable expenses in 2013 at a total cost of €70.9million. “This is about one third of the total PAYE workforce.
“But we believe that most of these people are probably in a union which is how they know about this relief.”
However the amount a person is entitled to is based on their job description, for example a standard Kitchen worker would be allowed to claim just €21 per year, however those in higher paying jobs, such as those currently working for the RTE Concert Orchestra would be allowed to claim a whopping deduction of €2,476 per annum.
Although those working in public sector jobs and an office environments would not be entitled to a claim.
