The message for all road users to take care has been emphasised at a Road Safety Authority event in Tipperary.

Over the past 12 months, 147 people were killed on the roads.

The gardai say that people need to stop taking drugs and driving, stop drinking and driving, stop speeding and stop using their mobile phone when they’re behind the wheel.

Along with that, it’s understood that speed cameras will be updated around the country in an effort to half the number of road deaths before the end of the decade with a long-term plan of wiping out all road deaths by 2050.
