New Zealand could begin to lift restrictions after the implementation of locking down borders proves successful in Covid-19 outbreak

New Zealand could soon lift strict restrictions after recent figures revealed that the spread of Covid-19 in the country is falling significantly.

Speaking about the drop in rates New Zealand’s Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern said that their country was winning the battle against Covid-19 and a decision on lifting restrictions could be made soon.

The news comes after the New Zealand government implemented strict measures which included the closing of borders on March 20th.

Although a lifting of restrictions is not a certainty, the country are thought to be moving in the right direction as the number of daily reported cases continues to fall.

According to latest figures New Zealand reported 29 probable cases of the virus which marks a fourth consecutive day of decline.

The country currently has 922 reported cases and one single death reported so far.

Ardern said a decision on lifting any potential lifting of restrictions will be made on April 20th, but they could be implemented for longer if the number of cases increases.
