The National Immunisation Advisory Committee has approved a programme that will see Covid-19 booster vaccines being offered to people over the age of 60.
It is understood that the programme was approved following a meeting on Monday.
Although no official start date for the booster campaign has been announced, it is believed that NIAC are keen to start the programme as soon as possible.
The booster campaign comes as Covid-19 cases continue to rise with hospital admissions increasing over the past number of weeks.
