Radio presenter Niall Boylan has drawn attention to Tánaiste Leo Varadkar admitting to RTE that there have been less deaths so far this Winter, compared to recent years, which seems to contradict the idea that a deadly pandemic is blighting the country.
Boylan tweeted:
“So @LeoVaradkar has just admitted on #rtept that there has been less death this Winter than in there has been in the last five years (no excess deaths), yet they are willing to continue to destroy people’s quality of life, jobs, business and non-Covid health.”
Statistics from the CSO do bear out the fact that Ireland’s death toll shows no real spike compared to recent years and winter months have actually recorded a lower death toll that the same months in recent years.
