Nigel Farrage seeks apologies after report finds no Russian interference in Brexit referendum

A report by the UK Parliament’s Intelligence and Security Committee has found that there was no Russian involvement in influencing the British public to vote to leave the EU the Telegraph has reported.

In the aftermath of the Brexit referendum in which the UK voted to leave the EU in the country’s largest democratic decision in its history, conspiracy theories were perpetuated that the Kremlin had sought to influence the outcome so as to weaken the Brussel’s led bloc.

These conspiracy theories were in the same vain as the now also debunked Trump-Russia collusion conspiracy that suggested that the US President was a pawn of Vladimir Putin who conspired to install him in the White House.

Reacting to the report, Nigel Farage, who led the push for years for a referendum on British membership of the EU, tweeted:

“So, no evidence of Russian interference in the referendum. Some serious apologies are due.”

Also reacting to the report was Labour Party Shadow Foreign Secretary Lisa Nandy told Sky News on Tuesday morning:

“My feeling about the referendum is that people made their own minds up and the test facing our country is now is to pull together to get a good deal.”
