No consultation with Irish people before gov decision to send Irish troops to help train Ukrainian forces fighting Russia

The government never consulted the Irish people in regards to this overt if indirect intervention into the conflict in Ukraine and even more shockingly the Minister said that Irish troops “would like to be involved” and would provide practical support for the mission the Irish Times reported.

The Irish Defence Forces is likely to contribute a handful of senior military personnel who would travel to EU countries such as Germany and Finland to provide a period of training to Ukrainian troops under the EU’s Common Security and Defence Policy (CSDP) the Irish Times reports.

This unprecedented step to disregard of Ireland’s long standing neutrality to support a non-EU state, infamous for its corruption, in a war with the world’s largest nuclear power was taken without any consultation with the Irish people or their representatives.
