
The country could be soon set to see a landmark occasion later today as Wicklow county council will vote on whether or not to ban fast food outlets from the vicinity of school playgrounds.
The ongoing “no-fry zones” argument will finally come to conclusion one way or another later today after a three year disagreement about the issue.
It is understood Wicklow county council want to create a 400m no-fry zone around a three-school campus in Greystones.
The radical plan which has received great support by the Irish Heart Foundation, the HSE and a number of doctors’ organisations, will be the first ruling of this nature to be introduced in Ireland and it is hoped other local authorities will support such a system.
