No further strike action to come as union members at Bus Eireann agree to LRC ruling

The threat of strike action amongst staff at Bus Eireann has seemingly been averted today after union members have agreed to accept the latest Labour Recommendations Court decision regarding pay and conditions.

The news which will be welcomed by thousands of commuters across the county comes after both SIPTU and UNITE trade union members voted overwhelmingly in favour of the Labour Court ruling.

Union chiefs have reportedly said they are happy and more than willing to agree to the terms by the LRC and hope to avoid further industrial action in the future.

However the news of the agreement which comes after staff at the company held 21 days of industrial action over the past few months, will more than likely be met with a stern response from management at Bus Eireann who repeatedly claim that pay and route cuts must be enforced in an effort to cut spiraling costs.
