Professor Philip Nolan has warned that Ireland’s Covid-19 rate rising rapidly and has warned that there could be a huge rise in cases in the coming days and weeks.
Speaking at the National Public Health Emergency Team briefing, Professor Nolan said that Ireland’s positivity rate is rising rapidly and it now stands at 5.2%.
Nolan warned that if current trends were to continue Ireland would have over 900 cases by December 30th and 1,300 by January 6th.
Professor Nolan’s comments come after Ireland reported 727 new cases on Monday.
It is understood that the latest case figures has now led to the Government having discussions introducing further restrictions in the coming days.
