On the outskirts of Roscrea, County Tipperary, a protest is still going on outside the entrance to the Racket Hall Hotel, reports RTE.
Since Thursday night, protesters have remained at the hotel to voice their opposition to the plans to shelter 160 families who are applying for international protection.
At 3.30 p.m., there will be another protest on Main Street in Roscrea, reports RTE.
Michael Smith, a local Fianna Fáil councillor, is worried that the hotel’s new use may result in job losses.
“That’s where the uncertainty is, and this hasn’t really been clarified,” Local Fianna Fáil Councillor Michael Smith said, reports RTE.
