Not backing down: INMO say they are willing to undertake scheduled strike action unless significant improvements are made

Talks between the HSE and the INMO will resume this afternoon in the hope of averting scheduled strike action later this month.

However any progress on a deal currently seems a long way off as negotiations on Wednesday came to another standstill with no significant improvements made.

Following the talks on Wednesday, the INMO confirmed that scheduled strike action will go ahead unless a significant offer is made in order to address the ongoing issues in the sector.

The INMO say they feel the issue which largely surrounds pay, recruitment and the retention of staff is key to addressing the issue which has been long standing.

Although further talks are scheduled for today, the union say they are full prepared to carryout strike action in late January and early February if no significant improvements are made.

It is believed that the HSE are unwilling to agree to the INMO and the Psychiatric Nurses Association’s request as they say their demands would cause a knock on effect in regards to the Public Service Stability Agreement.
