Dr Tony Holohan very concerned with one county over non compliance and refuses to rule a out local lockdown

The Chief Medical Officer Dr Tony Holohan has said that NPHET and public health experts are particularly concerned with the high incidence rate in one particular county.

Speaking at the NPHET briefing Dr Holohan said that the team are concerned with high incidence rate in Dublin and Kildare, but in particular they are be very concerned with the rate in Co Donegal.

Addressing their concerns, Dr Holohan said that there is a high rate of non compliance in the border county in particular.

He went on to say that there’s no point in saying otherwise and the dogs on the street know that there are things that are happening that shouldn’t be happening.

The Chief Medical Officer warned that if such an incidence rate was reported across the country we wouldn’t be recommending the latest measures.

He added that if we thought it was necessary we would consider offering advice on a local lockdown, although he did admit that decision would be made by the Government.
