NPHET and the Government say no more than 10 people from different households are allowed to visit people’s homes

The Government and NPHET have outlined new guidelines in order to combat the spread of Covid-19.

In a bid to crackdown on house parties, the Government have confirmed that no more than 10 people from four different households can gather in one household.

The latest restrictions come as it was revealed that R number has increased in recent weeks with numbers now suggesting that it is between 1.2 and 1.8.

It is understood that both the Government and NPHET have become increasingly concerned about the rise in house parties in recent weeks.

Speaking about the new guidelines the Taoiseach Micheal Martin said that the main priority is to reduce the current R number in order to surpress the virus.

He added that although he knows that the latest news will be difficult to take for many people, he reiterated that the virus is still out there and is continuing to spread.
