University of Oxford’s Covid-19 vaccine reportedly could provide double protection

There is some promising news in terms of finding a vaccine against the Covid-19 virus as new research has found that a potential vaccine could provide double protection.

According to The Daily Telegraph, the vaccine which is being developed at the University of Oxford has shown post results following trials.

The paper reports that the vaccine which could be available in the UK later this year can provide double protection against the virus.

Researchers say phase one trials have shown that the vaccine can not only stimulate the body to produce antibodies but crucially T-cells as well.

The latest findings are thought to be crucial as the stimulation of T-cells plays a major part in the body’s immune system.

Although scientists say there is a possibility that the vaccine won’t work, they have stated that they are highly confident following recent findings and the vaccine could potentially be available as early as September.

However in order for the vaccine to be made widely available within the next few months it must be tested for efficiency and safety.
