NPHET say older children should be social distancing in school

Older children should practice social distancing of one metre or more when they return to school NPHET has said.

Speaking before an Oireachtas Committee on Covid-19, the acting Chief Medical Officer Dr Ronan Glynn said that older primary school children should practice social distancing when in class.

Although Dr Glynn accepted that it was impractical to expect younger children to social distance when in school, he did state that older children should be advised to social distance by one metre or more.

He added that all secondary school students should be social distancing when in school whenever possible.
