RTE reports that the government leaders, Micheal Martin, Leo Varadkar and Eamon Ryan said that Phil Hogan’s decision to resign as European Trade Commissioner was the “correct course of action given the circumstances of the past week.”
According to the national broadcaster, a joint statement was released that acknowledged Hogan’s resignation and said that even though it was a difficult personal decision, they believe it was the correct course of action.
Martin told RTE that Hogan has “has “served Europe and Ireland with distinction”
