Figures just released by the Irish Nurses and Midwives Organisation (INMO) show that the number of people accommodated on trolleys across Irish hospitals is still rising.
There were 26% more people on trolleys during April this year than in April 2014. Year on year, the figures are up an astonishing 73% since April 2006.
In total, about 35,000 received treatment while on trolleys from January to April, which is the highest figure recorded for the four-month period since records began.
General Secretary Liam Doran said the numbers demonstrated the deep extent of the crisis in hospitals across Ireland.
