Nurses call out the government as being cynical for saying they’ll only talk about conditions and not pay

In what can only be described as a cynical move, the government said that they’re willing to talk to the nurses about their working conditions but not about their pay.

The nurses and midwives organisation called out the government for using one of the most cynical moves that they’ve ever seen.

Speaking on RTE’s DriveTime, Phil Ni Sheaghdha said that she had heard about a press statement from the Ministers with absolutely no correspondence to the unions.

She said that the main issue was being ignored and that in order to recruit new staff and retain current staff that they had to be competitive and cited private hospitals that are offering recruitment bonuses of €6,000.

More strike days are due on February the 12th, 13th and 14th.
