O’Callaghan says that no report was made to gardaĆ of assault on NFL player at the weekend

Justice Minister Jim O’Callaghan has confirmed that no report of an alleged assault involving an NFL player in Dublin has been received by gardaĆ, reports Breaking News.

This follows media claims that Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback Skylar Thompson sustained minor injuries during an attempted mugging on Friday night in the capital.

A representative for the team stated they are still looking into the details surrounding the reported incident, reports Breaking News.

In an interview with Newstalk, Mr O’Callaghan maintained that the general public continues to feel secure in Dublin.

ā€œNo complaint has been made to An Garda SĆochĆ”na in respect of that alleged criminal offence,ā€ he said, reports Breaking News.

ā€œSo I’m not absolutely certain that this is the type of attack on a tourist that we’ve had to engage in and respond to,” reports Breaking News.

ā€œIsn’t the point that I have been mentioning repeatedly is Dublin is a city and county of 1.2/1.3 million people. We’re always going to have incidents there,” reports Breaking News.

Thompson had already been moved to the reserve list for the NFL match held at Croke Park on Sunday due to a hamstring injury earlier this month.

The Steelers ultimately claimed victory in the game, which was witnessed by more than 74,500 spectators, reports Breaking News.
