Ole Ole Ole: We did it! Ireland beats Germany 1-0

Ireland have sealed a play-off for Euro 2016 at least after a historic 1-0 win over Germany in their qualifier in Dublin tonight.

The boys in green go onto play Poland on Sunday with a chance to qualify automatically for France next summer. Ireland started the game on the back foot with Germany dominating possession but never really threatening. Ireland started the second half more brightly and kept the Germans in their toes with the long ball over the top which they couldn’t handle. The decisive moment came when Shane Long scored after goalkeeper Darren Randolph kicked a long ball which split the German defence for Long to smash home. Ireland managed to hang on and send the Aviva into delirium.

Ireland now face Poland on Sunday were a 2-2 draw or better would send them to France automatically.
