One person has been killed and several others injured in a bloody gang battle that erupted on the Barcelona metro before spilling onto the streets.
At least 30 thugs were involved, all of whom are believed to be Pakistani migrants, in brawl which saw the men hack at each other with machetes, axes and other weapons in a animalistic orgy or violence that left the Catalan capital’s metro awash with blood.
A spokesman for the regional Mossos d’Esquadra police force said
“We are investigating the death of a Pakistani national on Sunday night.
The incident occurred around 10pm during a fight between a number of people in an area of Barcelona known as Salut.
One of the participants in the fight died as a result of the injuries he suffered. Two other men were seriously injured.
Officers from Barcelona ’s local police force the Guardia Urbana arrested nine men following the fight who are all Pakistani nationals.”
All those detained are aged between 15 and 30.
The incident was described as a “revenge attack” although the exact reason for the outbreak of violence has not yet been divulged.
El Pais has reported that Catalan police have already been forced to undertake extensive operations to tackle gangs of Pakistani migrants facing off in the streets hoping to secure control of a portion of the lucrative drug trade in Barcelona.
