Online petition asking for a second Brexit referendum surpasses three million signatures

A petition set up in the wake of Britain’s exit from the EU has now gathered over one million signatures, which means the issue will need to be raised in the Parliament.

However, 17 million people voted ‘Leave’, making the three million signatories small change indeed in comparison.

In the immediate aftermath of Brexit, the pound has sunk to a historic low, and the UK’s economic outlook has been downgraded to ‘negative’ due to the uncertainty brought about by the referendum’s outcome.

Also, a second vote on Scottish independence is now likely, as most Scots (62%) voted to remain in the UK (and thus, in the EU), back in 2014.

Outgoing British Prime Minister David Cameron has already said that there will not be a second vote.
