There’s been absolute consternation on social media over the fact that RTE News Hi Katie Taylor’s spectacular historic Victory is just the fourth segment in the sports section.
Late Friday night into Saturday morning, Katie Taylor made history by becoming the first Irish fighter to hold 3 world titles at the same time.
Katie and the WBO lightweight title to her collection after she beat Brazil’s Roswell aunty in Philadelphia. It was a slow fest from word go, but Katie was in control throughout the fight.
The historic victory now places Katie in the driving seat to eventually become the unified champion an undisputed champion of the world.
All that is to one side as it appears RTE couldn’t care less about how great of a Champion Katie Taylor truly is. In their broadcast on Saturday evening, they just had the Wicklow superstar as the fourth segment in their sports report. Many people feel this is completely unjustified and are just baffled as to why she isn’t getting the just rewards from the state broadcaster.
