It is understood that the car manufacturer will soon begin sending letters to Opel Zafira owners after several incidents where Zafira vehicles suddenly burst into flames.
A statement released by Opel says that the fires are linked to the heating and ventilation systems, but no definite cause of the fault has been released.
The models affected are all right-hand drive cars manufactured between 2005 and 2014, and include non Climate Control versions.
According to Opel, older cars with a high mileage are more susceptible to develop the fault. The letter will direct the owners to their local Opel dealers for an inspection. Any repair work carried out will be paid for by Opel.
