The current Dáil will likely sit for the last time today, as its dissolution ahead of the General Election is expected to happen tomorrow.

All TDs are now gearing up for the election festivities, which will culminate on the likely polling day of Thursday, February 25.

Speaking today, Labour’s Joan Burton appeared confident that her party will not experience a total annihilation at the polls, as it is widely expected by everyone else. She said “I’m very confident as ever of our chances. It’s a good time for an election with better exchequer figures.”

The Taoiseach is expected to call the official date today or tomorrow at the latest.
