Opinion: Enda Kenny is a horrendous Taoiseach who has always put the Irish people second

It’s not even a case of love him or hate him, it’s a case of how bad he truly was.

Finally it seems the Irish people will be rid of the utter disgrace of a leader that is Enda Kenny.

The man who has led the Fine Gael party for some 15 years now surviving a leadership battle against Richard Bruton and has been reelected as Taoiseach in last year’s election.

But has he ever actually led the country or has he repeatedly performed like a puppet for his German and French overlords again and again? The answer is yes.

More often than not, afraid to debate on television or radio, Kenny collected a government that he sent out as his attack dogs rather than face the music himself.

Outright lies dominated his tenure, in particular his turnaround stance on household tax, water charges and abysmal record on standing up to Europe.

How many times did you hear your local TD saying “well, they have water charges in Europe”, and “the Taoiseach knows what’s best for the country”.

Utter nonsense. That now infamous photo of President Nicolas Sarkozy rubbing Enda Kenny’s head like a good little lapdog is the most pertinent example of our so-called leader bowing down to his overlords for approval.

The Irish people need to be put first, every time.

We should never ever have been forced to endure the wrath of the European leaders’ over risks we didn’t take but debts we were forced to pay back, thanks to the spineless efforts of Enda Kenny.

Whatever happens, Leo Varadkar, Simon Coveney or Heaven forbid, Simon Harris takes over, we need a leader who is willing to do practically the exact opposite what Enda Kenny has done.

The sooner he leaves, the better for the Irish people.
