Paul Murphy of the Anti Austerity Alliance cannot be allowed dominate, lead or take the main stage on the National Water Protests on Wednesday. His extreme left-wing views have rallied up his left-wing allies, but in turn, it has somewhat turned off middle-Ireland for two reasons.
Firstly, they don’t want to be associated with his extreme left-wing ideology, and secondly and most importantly – they feel there could well be violence on the streets on Wednesday afternoon. Murphy himself, to be fair, has only ever illustrated a peaceful protest, but the incident involving Joan Burton being trapped in her car has really made a lot of people feel that it was one step away from a violent riot.
Violence, trapping politicians in cars, egging politicians, non of these methods work. Again, I must stress that Murphy himself didn’t act in a violent manner, but there are elements of strong left-wing entities who have used these tactics to absolutely no avail.
The solitary way that this immoral water tax will be eradicated is through peaceful means and through political back-tracking. That can only happen democratically and include as many people as possible. We need literally 100,000 strong on the streets this Wednesday. The only chance we have is now.
