Opinion poll appears to show rise in support for Fine Gael




Fine Gael now leads both Fianna Fáil and Sinn Féin by five points, according to the results of the most recent Red C Poll published in the Business Post, reports Breaking News.

With both parties at 18%, it puts the Taoiseach’s party five points ahead of Fianna Fáil, which has decreased by one, and Sinn Féin, which has decreased by two.

The Social Democrats have increased by one point to six percent, while Independents remain at fifteen percent.

The Green Party is down one point to four percent, while Labour is up one point to four percent, reports Breaking News.

Independent Ireland has likewise decreased by one percentage point to 4%, while Solidarity/People Before Profit remains at 3%.

Aontú has increased to 4%, up one point.

As the Dáil reconvenes on Wednesday following its summer break, everyone is talking about the election, reports Breaking News.

Taoiseach Simon Harris has said unequivocally that he wants the Government to serve out its whole term until March, notwithstanding rumours that a general election will be held in November.

Sixty-five percent of respondents to the survey believe the government should utilise any windfall tax proceeds for an additional cost-of-living program, reports Breaking News.
