OPINION: Simple Simon Harris can grovel to President Trump now but his woke mouth may have already cashed Ireland’s cheque

Tanaiste Simon Harris has never been known for his intellectual prowess. Never having a real job, dropping out of college, before being handed a position as a parliamentary secretary for then Senator Frances Fitzgerald.
From there his mediocrity and lack of achievement seemed to propel him from Councillor to TD, to Minister for Health, where he infamously remarked that we had endured “18” previous Covids in an interview discussing the country’s response to the Covid-19 outbreak.

Following Leo Varadkar’s sudden and ignominious flight from public life for reasons we still do not know, Harris assumed the position of Taoiseach and this tremendous responsibility has evidently not sharpened his dull mind.
Rather than shrewdly and strategically considering his words when passing comment on U.S President Donald Trump referring to him as an “awful gowl” in a radio interview in 2020, Harris utter these words to the delight of the woke mob but is now having to eat them.

Harris can grovel as he likes but as a once openly hostile, woke, globalist, this lisping, hunched mediocrity of a so-called man may have set a collision course between Ireland and America that could see our house of cards economy reliant on U.S investment come crashing down.
