Orange heat warning remains in place for six counties as temperatures rise to almost historic record levels




An Orange heat warning remains in place for six counties today, as temperatures rise to almost historic record levels.

The counties affected are Cavan, Monaghan, south Leitrim, Roscommon, Longford, and Westmeath.

Nationwide, daytime temperatures of up to 30C, or just above, are forecast for today again, with overnight temperatures remaining in the low- to mid-20s.

The national forecaster says that the weather will change somewhat on Friday, but it will remain fairly warm, with temperatures of mid- to high-20s likely, and the possibility of thunderstorms.
